As the summer holidays conclude we hope everyone has enjoyed it.
Here at JSM it has been a very productive time; since the schools closed in July we have:
• Installed over 10 miles of cabling
• Installed 2 miles of pipework
• Installed 500m2 of fire rated walls
• Installed 700m2 of carpets and safety flooring
• Installed 800m2 of ceilings
• Painted 5000m2 of existing surfaces
• Completed two new heating systems
• Completed two new boiler houses
• Rewired two schools
• Built 10 new learning environments
That's just the work we have undertaken in schools! It has only taken us 17,500 man hours!
Our FM team has continued its planned and reactive support of commercial office space, hospitals, schools, medical research facilities, local authority premises and power stations to name but a few, all in a day's work for those guys as they continue to go from strength to strength.
Our projects division has been busy too, handing over four new high end office spaces for an international law firm whilst completing three floors of ten in Manchester's current largest development.
One of our Clients commented "I wish all our Contractors would just do what they said they would do like the JSM guys do." It's those little things that make it worthwhile.

JSM Building Solutions have recently reached practical completion on the refurbishment of a grade II listed building in Manchester, to create 45,000 sq ft of office space.
The building is located on the corner of Dantzic Street and offers office space over seven floors, including two basement levels.
JSM Building Solutions installed the cold water supply throughout the building to serve all WC blocks and landlords plant, along with a new heating system and mechanical ventilation as required. A new mechanical control panel and sprinkler system were installed as part of the mechanical works.
The electrical installation of lighting, power, fire alarm, data and comms were all installed to the Client's satisfaction. This began with a full design and co-ordination exercise. The install is majority surface with galvanised tray trunking and conduit. Around 3km of steel conduit was installed on the project.
JSM are now working on another office scheme, converting the nearby Redfern Building into 60,000 sq ft of offices with the same Main Contractor.

As we are approaching our busiest time of the year we are pleased to welcome on board new colleagues, both on site and in the office, to help facilitate the high standards we strive to achieve on all our projects, allowing us to secure repeat work with highly valued Clients. Wonderful start to the day.
One of our Clients, a global property management company has written and informed us we are in their top 100 for their entire supply chain! They have asked us not to publish the results yet, but best in class does have a nice ring to it.
If that's not enough, this was followed by a purchase order for several million pounds for a full design and build project starting immediately.

Are you EV ready?
JSM Building Solutions have been approved by the Government Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) to install electric vehicle charging points for the workplace and commercial sector.
*We can offer design and specification tailored to the site-specific requirements*
*Supply, install and commission of the equipment*
*Unit branding with Company information and logo*
*We can also offer line marking, bespoke barriers and signage if required*
We have undertaken NICEIC training in the best practice of installing EV charge points, also approved by manufacturers such as ROLEC.
The government's goal is that 60% of cars and 40% of vans need to be electric by 2030. Currently on the road there are 145,000 electric vehicles with 4000 a month being bought. We felt there was a need for businesses to be ahead of the growing trend and therefore offer to help you with an EV strategy.

September brings to an end JSM's busiest period of the year so far, where we were in demand to carry out electrical and mechanical refurbishment work at several schools in the North West during the tight 6 week summer holidays.

Huge congratulations to the JSM 5-a-side football team who are Go Electrical tournament winners 2018!
After a thrilling day of football our team beat teams from 15 other electrical contractors to be crowned winners and were awarded a trophy.

This month is the culmination of an active period for us with several projects coming to an end.
We have been busy installing boilers at Hazel Grove High School in Manchester and are now moving on to several new projects including a church, Primary School and an office block.

CONGRATULATIONS to our first Electrical Apprentice, who has successfully completed his second year at college after being fast-tracked through his exams two months early.
CONGRATULATIONS also to our other apprentices, who both joined us a year later in 2016 and are both looking forward to starting their second year apprenticeships at Blackpool & the Fylde College.
As our apprenticeship programme has been so successful, we will shortly be running a recruitment drive for a further two apprentices to join our team.

JSM is awarded enabling work package at New Century Hall in Manchester for Russell Construction as part of project NOMA in the Northern Sector of Manchester, currently the largest development site in North West England.

JSM is awarded renewal of UK Biobank annual PPM contract to maintain and repair the Stockport site.
December 2016
JSM is awarded a 12 month contract for repairs and maintenance with Wyre Borough Council.
November 2016
JSM wins the YHA at Keswick
refurbishment works. The Hostel and staff accommodation were badly
damaged in the floods that took place in early 2016. JSM will carry
out the replacement and refurbishment to the M&E services with an
expected completion early in 2017.
October 2016
JSM completes the refurbishment to the
Federation building in the Manchester Northern Sector. The works
have been carried out throughout the 7 floors during the summer. The
project is part of NOMA the £800M, 20 acre site of mixed development
scheme in Manchester, the largest development site in North West
England ahead of developments such as Media City.
September 2016
JSM starts another new apprentice to be
trained as an electrician, JSM has now started 3 new apprentices in
less than 12 months; 2 as electrical and 1 as mechanical. This
demonstrates our continued investment in developing our work force
for the future.

JSM starts technical services support
for CBRE on the TIP Trailers estate throughout the UK.
July 2016
JSM is awarded a 5 year contract from
Lancashire County Council to all 3 areas of Lancashire.
The contract
is for the small works framework that is carried out on schools,
libraries, care homes and other county operated premises.
June 2016
JSM starts delivering technical
services to the TK MAXX estate, JSM will be providing building fabric
maintenance and building services work.
April 2016
JSM starts another new apprentice to be
trained as a Mechanical
Engineer, this is the 2nd apprentice to
start in 6 months. Recruiting and training
apprentices is one of JSM`s key strategies for the future organic
growth and success for the company.
March 2016
JSM completes the Mechanical and
Electrical remodelling works to the Lancaster Marketgate shopping
centre to enable the new fit out for the new Primark store. The
works included the modification of the fire sprinklers and all
general M&E services.
February 2016
JSM completes the chiller replacement
works to UK Biobank in Stockport. The works were planned and
completed safely and within the required timescales. The project
involved a crane lift of the chillers onto a roof top which was
directly in line with the flight path of Manchester
Airport.
